Common questions

How does ErrandPing know I’m at a store?

It watches for the stores that have something on your list, using your iPhone’s location on the device. When you arrive at one, it checks that the store is open and pings you once with everything you can get there.

Why does it ask to use my location always?

So it can ping you when the app is closed, which is when you’re out shopping. With location allowed only while using the app, ErrandPing can still show what’s nearby when you open it. Your location stays on your iPhone either way.

Why didn’t I get a ping?

In Settings, the store reminders row at the top says what’s working and what needs fixing. A ping also waits when:

• it’s quiet hours, or you’ve reached the daily ping limit;
• you snoozed that store today, or turned it off for that item;
• the store was closed, or you’d been pinged about the same thing there not long before;
• notifications or location are off for ErrandPing in the Settings app.

Can I get fewer pings?

Yes. In Settings, set quiet hours and a daily ping limit. A ping has two buttons for that: Snooze this store today, and Not this store, which stops suggesting that store for those items.

How do I export or delete my data?

In Settings, under Your data: Export my data, or Delete all data. Delete all data can’t be undone, so it offers an export first.
